Ali Hammoud (B. 1972) is a visual artist and filmmaker. In his most recent work he incorporates images, shapes, colors and inspirations into his body of work, in a way to develop forms that do not follow logical criteria, but are based on subjective associations and formal parallels. Increasingly abstraction turns towards concepts of transformation and renewal.

His work shifts in focus and dimension in reaction to certain themes and recurrent events. They are a communicative between the still and moving imagery, as another agency to create intense personal moments created by means of rules and omissions, construction and deconstruction.

Ali finds himself immersed in new situations that call for habitual and new artistic innovation, that also gives new meanings to his practices by trying to create works in which moments evocative of interior consciousness, social experience and immediate atmosphere that entangle within a narrative framework. His works are based on formal associations which open a unique poetic vein. Multilayered images arise in which the fragility and instability of our seemingly certain reality is questioned.

At the moment, Ali is engaged in developing several projects including a book and an essay film. He currently lives and works in Birmingham, Alabama.
